Hi, i'm a complete newbie to pretty much anything to do with networking and in particular ADSL, so this might sound like a fairly naive question.

With the NB1300, how do I get file sharing programs to work?

THey keep telling me that certain TCP and UDP ports are unavailable, probably because they have been blocked. My understanding is that the NB1300 has a built in firewall, and this is what is blocking the ports... How do i free them up, if this is actually what I have to do?

Any help would be appreciated,
thanks.

Sorry but could you please elaborate on what you are trying to achieve?

Are you meaning setting up file sharing on your internal network between Win PC's?

Or is it related to file sharing to a remote PC on the Internet?

What "file sharing programs" are you using?

Could you describe what your network setup is - without giving out sensitive info?

EXAMPLE:

[SWIFTEL]

...............+|++[ SWITCH / HUB etc ]

You will have to go into the configuration on the Router/Modem that you have under port redirection and redelegate the ports that you want through to your internal IP address. Certain Apps like Kazaa and Winmx all run on specific ports, find out what these are and then map them through the router to your computer
