extreemly slow connection

I usually recieve a receipt from this isp on the 20 th of every month as it is automatically withdrawn from my account, i have not recieved a reciept this month yet and my connection is slower than dial up speed but i am on adsl.
please help, very frustating.

Hi Benny10,

Billing has nothing to do with your speed. Worst case scenario would be that your connection will be completely barred from non-payment but you will not get slow speeds due to billing issues. If you can PM me your service number, I'll be able to check if you've gone over your data limit for the month.

Things you can try:
-Isolation test: Try simplifying your network by connecting a single computer directly to your modem. Also try removing all telephony devices from the same landline your ADSL service is on while leaving the ADSL modem on it's own.

-Disable Security Software: If you have firewalls, anti-virus, or any other internet security software, please try disabling them and run a speed test on your connection to see if this improves your connection. Please be advised that it is still a good idea to have internet software protection active but for the purpose of troubleshooting your speed, please try disabling your security software.

-Disable Peer to Peer Software: If you're running any file sharing software, please try disabling these before performing a speed test.
