Hi Expert

Why when I tried to enable the Remote Web Management for DSL-G604T ( I am aware of security implication for doing that ) a message popped up saying :

Invalid IP address 0.0.0.0

As in a snap shot below :

Don't have one of these myself but just a thought, had the modem been connected to PT and allocated an external IP address when you tried to turn on remote management?

No

Hopefully it should work when connected then! as I assume the IP address will be populated with the external one then and not be 0.0.0.0

Hi Kayhe9

This is for remote management nothing to do with connection to PT.

Say if it is connected to PT , and you want remotely to connect to the router from your work or office or from overseas,,,,etc, then you have to enter the ip address of the location where you are sitting (not where the router is sitting ) and want to connect to the router

This is what I have been advised to read

Page 61 on product manual from the link below
http://www.dlink.com/products/default.aspx?pid=DSL-G604T&tab=3
To enable remote management of the Router, select the Enabled radio button for either Remote Web or Remote Telnet Management and type the IP Address and Netmask of the remote network or system used for management. Click the Apply button to activate remote management from the chosen IP address. Be sure to save the new setting (see below).

Ok looks like you just need to put in the public IP address and mask of where you are going to be connecting from select enable and then click on apply.

It seems to tie you down to only being able to manage from one remote IP address, so impossible to use if you are moving around and not sure where you are going to be.

Yes unfortunate this is a drawback of the product I guess

Have you tried updating to the latest firmware ? Perhaps this is a bug of one of the earlier releases ?
Check under your modem for the revision number, the following link is for revision A

I think it will be better to update firmware as this will more beneficial. I go some problem which is somewhere same as yours and then later I found it was a bug so, try to find out what can be the issue and find the solution accordingly.

thanks
