Hi there,

The best would probably be to go for a DSL-500 Modem/Router, which connects directly into your ethernet switch and there is no need for software on your computer its all done via a web based admin page to the router which does your logins for you .etc.etc
I have used it for over a year and am yet to see a problem with it..
Also what do you mean about the Swiftel recommended option??

Cheers,
Chris.

I've been pretty happy with my billion 741GEv2, it has an in-built 4-port hub (you didn't mention whether you had one of these and I'm not familiar with the 3060), and it has basic firewall capabilities.

and they've come down in price.

Phealey the best option I believe for home networks is a dedicated router(one with an inbuilt ADSL modem if you don’t have one or your current one lacks the features you want otherwise you can get just a plain router and set your modem to bridged mode.)

This option may cost more then buying just a plain HUB or switch. But provides full connection functionality and is quite easy to setup.

I don't know a lot about current hardware in terms of routers. So I won't suggest any particular model. What I will suggest though is try to get one with UPNP (Universal Plug & Play). It’s a bit of a controversial thing. But if it takes off and software developers start using it more. Your going to wish you bought a router capable of it.

the 741 is a firewall/router.

it has an in-built hub.

take a look at the billion website for more info (www.billion.com.au).
