Mate... you gotta tell us a bit more. Firstly, give us a detailed description of your network topology... ie. what do you have connected to what.

Also, which modem are you using? How are you logging in to the PPPoE? Do you have a router/switch?

Cheers,
-V

possibly the MTU value problem with XP and ADSL

that is if the network is setup right and working internally

what is the actual setup, it seems to me you are running a switch, i think you should check your proxy settings in internet exploer and go over all your settings first, if it doesn't help then try support they should be abe to help ya out.

Sounds like (let me guess) you are pulling the network or USB cable out of your desktop and plugging it into you rlaptop... or else using network for one and USB fror the other. Or maybe a hub or switch. Either way...

Obviously your laptop is connecting, which is why you are getting MSN working, but the browser is not working.

Let me guess again... it is a laptop that you use at the office?

Try checking your LAN settings in the browser (eg Intenet Explorer - tools, options, connections, LAN settings) - make sure these settings are the same as the desktop machine. You may have to switch them back and forth as you go from office to home etc.

Let me know if this helps.

Cheers.

Hi please help me. Have a Netcom NB1 Router hooked up (and working with a laptop-Windows Vista) on broadband. I have just bought my daughter a new laptop with Wi-Fi (Windows-XP) and wanted to share my internet connection.

Everything I try in terms of setting up a network connection with internet sharing has failed. I want to throw the new laptop out the window. Can you pls give me some basic, step-by-step instructions???????

Thank you.
Carolyn

Hello,

How do you currently have it setup?
The Netcomm Nb1 is only a one port modem without wireless

Hi Albert
Thanks for responding.

The Netcom is linked via wired connection to my existing Laptop (vista) with broadband. This network is called 'CABA BASE'.

I am trying to link the new Dreambook (with XP) via it's Wi-Fi connection yo the existing laptop and connection. I can't do it via 'adding a wirless device' and attempts to make a wireless ad-hoc network don't give me access to the internet on the Dreambook.

Is this the info you need?

Hello,

If you have already got both computer to talk to each other, it is a matter of turning on one setting.

Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > [Choose your ad hoc internet profile] > Properties > Advanced tab > Turn on Allow other network users to connect...
