Reception Quality

I ordered a wireless modem from swift 7 days ago (5 working days) Should be in today or in the next couple of days :D Sure hope I get reception though, I've been unable to get broadband for years due to living in a dead end street which no ISP's can/will servive with ADSL or Cable, even though it's quite close to the heart of Sydney ;/

On the coverage map, my home is very borderline, if I were to guess I'd say that half of my house is shaded pink and the other half is white heh. I am however on the top floor of a house, and most other structures around me are single levels. Would this improve my reception?
Or..
- Placing the modem near a window?
- Using a 20m cable to put the modem in different areas of the house?
- Some kind of booster/antenna?

Living on the 2nd story does help.

Also putting it near a window also helps somewhat, as there is less things blocking the path to the tower.
