View Full Version : Settings for IPCop (Linux Firewall)

I am using IPCop 1.3 as my firewall solution, along with a PCI ADSL modem, and although I have connectivity happening, I am not sure if the "Dial-Up" settings I have are optimum.

I would be interested to know if anyone else is using a similar setup (not necessarily the same modem type...), and what setting they use to connect to Swiftel ?

The reason I am asking is because at least once a day, my connection drops out, meaning I have to manually reconnect. Looking through the logfiles at the time it just shows:

pppd[xxx]: LCP terminated by peer

Was wondering if this could be affected by the modem/connections settings in IPCop...

Any info appreciated.

blofeld.

I don't know if this any help for you.
I use linux box as well with firestarter as my firewall (it's use iptables), you can check the software here http://firestarter.sourceforge.net/.
For connection to ADSL I use rp-pppoe and rp-pppoe-gui (GUI interface for linux), with all that program I almost never had drop out.
Good luck.

Have a look at the following thread, I wrote it for my D-Link302G modem bridged with IPCOP as my firewall v1.3 with all fixes....
